TDA Has Your Back On Track...

There's nothing like riding a motorbike on a race track to make you feel alive. Whether you're a novice on a road bike, the 'King of Inters' on a dedicated track bike or leading the fast group like a pro (almost) on a race bike.

Whilst you can hire a track bike that's set up and waiting for you at the circuit, it can work out expensive and you'll still have an excess to pay if you drop it. Besides you can't beat riding your own bike, however:

The last thing you need as a novice on a road bike is the financial worry of an accident

Maybe you have an expensive weapon like a Panigale or M1000RR and can't afford to bin it

Or you own a tricked-up race bike with so many modifications you've invested a small fortune (in time and money)

What does track day insurance cover?

Put simply, track day damage insurance covers your motorcycle for damage repair or cash settlement if it's a total loss (write off). Subject to a sensible excess. It doesn't matter if it's your fault or someone else's. That's the core cover.

You can also add our Personal Injury Cover that pays you lump sums for certain injuries or accidental death (or buy it standalone).

Track Day Bike Damage Insurance Features

Sometimes known simply as 'Track Day Insurance', it covers accident damage to motorcycles that are being ridden on a non-competitive track day (not racing), either at a UK circuit or on a Euro trip, e.g.

  • Low side cosmetic repairs to damage if you lay it down
  • Cash settlements for a total loss (also called a 'write off'), e.g. a high side
  • Potential to buy back salvage if it's written off
  • Sensible excess deductions (usually 10-15% of the bikes value)

You can insure any type of motorbike (please contact us for bikes over £25,000) and you can also pay extra to add Personal Injury Cover, with a tax-free cash lump sum for fractures etc.

Discounts For Track Training Schools

Track Day Bike Damage Insurance - Discounts for Training Schools.

If you're taking part in a recognised training school on track, i.e. motorcycle coaching and skills days, with recognised organisers, it can qualify for cheaper premiums (applied automatically based on the organiser selected) - Subject to minimum premiums.

We know that it is not a full-on bike track day, but is actually about developing your riding skills with on track coaches and class-room sessions, often at slightly reduced speeds and focused on the apex or the technique rather than lining up for an overtake manouvre!

Check out our list of recognised Motorcycle Track Day Training Schools.

If you're riding in Europe you will need Medical & Repatriation Insurance (mandatory to get on track).

Example motorcycle track day insurance costs (JULY 2026):

For bikes under £5k there is a minimum premium. Some training schools have negotiated discounts that will be automatically applied if you choose them as the organiser. The excess is typically 10-15% of the bike value.

The prices displayed below are only for specific values. Bikes with a value not listed below will have their own individual price and excess - however you can use these examples to get an idea of the cost compared to something like hiring a bike (which also often has a damage excess).

Does Trackday Insurance affect my No Claims Bonus (NCB)?

In a word, No. As it's not a road insurance policy, TDA motorcycle track day damage insurance is treated differently to road insurance, e.g.

  • A track day claim does NOT need to be declared to your road insurer.
  • A track day claim will NOT be notified to the claims underwriting exchange (used by road insurers to search your claims history).
  • A track day claim does NOT affect your No Claims Bonus (NCB) / No Claims Discount (NCD).

It will not go against you when buying standard motorcycle insurance in any way, although you may take some ribbing from your mates and have some damaged pride!

Does standard motorcycle insurance cover track days?

Standard road insurance policies typically exclude cover for damage caused when riding your motorbike on a track day.

However, with TDA Track Day Damage Insurance you can cover accidental damage to your motorcycle on a UK or European circuit, whether the incident is your fault or not. It can cover repair costs if it is repairable, or a market value cash settlement towards replacing your bike if it is written-off (a total loss).

As you'd expect, there is an excess deduction, typically about 10-15% of your bike's value, so you still get about 85-90% of the market value after a claim is settled.

How much does motorcycle track day insurance cost?

TDA Track Day Bike Damage Insurance covers you for accidental damage to your bike on a UK or European circuit. It is a per-day or per-event policy, not an annual one.

You can buy cover for a single day, or a block purchase of consecutive days for a Euro trip, i.e. 3 or 4 days on track at Almeria. Costs are based on your bike's value and an excess deduction applies (usually around 10-15% of your bike's value).
